“BRIGHT 2016” Reseachers’ Night has been officially announced to be held in Tuscany on September 30th. This year the celebration expands across our region to include events organized by the Tuscany Region, the Universities of Siena, Florence and Pisa, the University for Foreigners of Siena, the Sant’Anna School for Advanced Studies, the Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa, la Scuola IMT School for Advanced Studies Lucca, the National Research Council Area of Pisa, the Pisa Institute for Nuclear Physics and the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology - Pisa.

The event, is a European Commission initiative coordinated by the University of Siena, which gives everyone the chance to meet researchers and find out about their latest discoveries in more than 300 cities of 24 European countries.

The initiative brings together universities, research institutions and regional organizations to celebrate innovations and developments taking place in higher education.

The event aims to promote active participation of people in talks, shows, and debates. Social media channels Twitter (@brightoscana) and Facebook (www.facebook.com/brighttoscana) offer previews of 2016 events and activities.

The Tuscany Researchers’ Bright Night website http://www.bright-toscana.it/ that will host all the events planned this year is in progress.

A lot of activities aimed at children, young people, families and schools will take place during the day, intended to demonstrate the importance and relevance of modern research to society debating science issues in an informal setting: shows, practical demonstrations, informal meetings and happy hours with researchers, stalls and workshops, guided tours and concerts, meetings in informal venues such as bookstores and science cafés.

Tuscany Researchers’ Bright Night is supported by the European Union Horizon 2020 initiative, which is financed by the European Commission under the grant no. 722944 – BRIGHT.
